Miracle League

Miracle League - 107290

The Miracle League of Central Illinois provides opportunities for children and adults with disabilities to experience the joy and benefits which come from playing our national pastime-BASEBALL! Game schedules and team information is emailed out leading up to the season. The season is set at 12 games total split into Spring and Fall schedules.

Safe-Sitter Course

Safe-Sitter Course - 150145

This class is a babysitting preparation program designed for boys and girls. Safe Sitter is a positive experience for each participant. Topics include babysitting as a business, success on the job, childcare essentials, safety for the sitter, injury management, preventing problem behavior and care of choking infant and child. Gondolas, chips and drinks will be served for lunch. The fee includes course materials and lunch.

Designed specifically for young dancers who are ready to explore the world of poms! This beginner level class covers pom dance basics such as arm motions, strength and coordination. Dancers use pom poms while learning basic choreography and dance terminology.

Private Swim Lessons - NCHS/NWHS

Private Swim Lessons - NCHS/NWHS - 300015

Children must be at least 3 years of age by the first day of class and must be comfortable being in the water without a parent to register for these classes. 1 on 1 instruction will be provided for swimmers looking for more individual attention during class. The Learn to Swim Program will be focused on, but each class will be custom tailored to the needs of the participant. Make up classes will only be offered if the classes are cancelled by NPRD and not in the case of the student absence for any reason.

Learn to Swim

Learn to Swim - 301000

Children must be at least 3 years of age by the first day of class and must be comfortable being in the water without a parent to register for these classes. The station method is utilized to move students through a series of levels. Children are REQUIRED to attend the testing day prior to the first session they are registered for.
- Some levels will be combined due to a maximum amount of participants allowed in the water at one time.

Tot Spot Swim Lessons

Tot Spot Swim Lessons - 301005

Structured water adjustment class designed for parents and toddlers from .5 - 3 yrs. of age. Parents will be taught holding positions and ways to acclimate their children to the skills that will be introduced in the Learn to Swim program. Parents and children learn thru guided activities and games provided by the instructor. This course DOES NOT teach infants to swim or survive alone in the water. A parent or guardian must accompany their child in the water. PLEASE REMEMBER all children in diapers must be wearing Lil' Swimmers in the pool.

Tot Spot Participants do NOT need to attend a testing day.

Lifeguard NEW CERTIFICATION

Lifeguard NEW CERTIFICATION - 301030

LIFEGUARDS WANTING TO WORK FOR NORMAL PARKS AND RECREATION SHOULD EMAIL HANNA TO SIGN UP. HRAZO@NORMAL.ORG
Lifeguards working for the Town of Normal Parks and Recreation Department will not be charged for the class. Passing class does not guarantee employment with NPRD.

The Jeff Ellis & Associates lifeguard program offers the most comprehensive lifeguard training program available. Participants will learn the water rescue, CPR, AED and First Aid skills required to be a lifeguard. Potential lifeguards for the Normal Parks and Recreation Department are often selected from these classes. Although 15-year-olds may take this course, they will not be eligible for employment as a Lifeguard with the Normal Parks and Recreation Department.

Registration takes place a minimum of 3 weeks prior to the first day of class to allow time for the completion of mandatory pre-course e-learning. Participants must provide their own (NOT a parent or guardians) valid email address upon registration. All required materials for the class, including the invitation to the online learning portal, will be delivered in electronic format. Please allow up 3 business days after registration to receive your email invitation.

NOTE: This lifeguard class is for certification purposes only. Passing this class does not guarantee a position at any aquatic facility. Participants will be required to pass a swimming/skills test on the first day to continue in the class. Swim test includes a continuous 200 yd. swim (8 lengths), treading water for one minute (without using their hands) and retrieving a diving brick (approx. 10 lbs.) from the deepest part of the pool (approx. 13 feet).
